How to Reserve a Campsite at Sand Island, Oregon

- Book online through our reservation system — until you've paid, you don't have a reservation.
- Check your dates — a 1-night minimum stay applies (2 nights required on holidays and special weekends).
- Arrive at St. Helens Marina (134 N River St, St. Helens, OR) and unload your gear at the launching ramp.
- Call shuttle driver Andrew at 503-793-9461 to get you and your gear across to the island.
Reservations are accepted by credit or debit card only. Cancellations or early departures made less than 5 days before arrival are subject to a $15 fee.

At Sand Island Campground, reservations are open year-round through our online booking system. Spots fill up fast — especially on summer weekends and holidays — so we recommend booking as early as possible to secure your preferred dates.

The adventure starts at St. Helens Marina Launching Ramp, located just north of the marina gate. Unload your gear at the ramp, and our shuttle will take it across to the island.

1. Bring Drinking Water There is no water supply on the island. The nearest water source is a 3-minute boat ride away — pack enough for your full stay.
2. No Power on the Island Sand Island is fully off-grid. Firewood is available for purchase, so plan your meals and lighting accordingly.
3. Unload at the Marina Ramp When you arrive at St. Helens Marina, head to the launching ramp to unload your gear. The team will assist you with parking.
4. Shuttle Service Call Andrew at 503-793-9461 to arrange your shuttle to the island. The boat runs Thursday through Sunday (see hours above).

Directions to Sand Island Campground
From Portland, head west on Highway 30 to St. Helens. At the first stoplight (Gable Road — Walmart on your right), turn right and follow Gable Road 2.5 miles down to the river. Turn left on River Street and follow it to the end. St. Helens Marina is located at 134 N River St, St. Helens, OR 97051.
